That's What Friends Are For*
A couple of weekends ago, Marie was nice enough to host the Spiders' annual winter get-together in her lovely new apartment. (I was sans camera so I don't have any photographic evidence that such an occurrence took place or that Marie's apartment was indeed lovely and/or new. But I assure you, it did. And it was.)
So anyways, this year's festivities included a single sock swap. I was paired up with Kaitlyn and knew I wanted to make an extra nice sock for her. However, with all the drama I had encountered in knitting
Pattern: Twisted Flowers by Cookie A
Yarn: Two skeins of Louet Gems in "Caribbean Blue"
Needles US 1 32' circulars (Knitpicks)
It was just what the doctor ordered. It yields a lovely intricate sock that is, in actuality, easier that it looks. Once you get a feel for the pattern it all goes by relatively quickly.
On the receiving end, I had the fortunate luck to have had the one and only Schrodinger assigned to me. And looky at what she made me:
Wowee. This is a mighty impressive sock. I had always admired this pattern from afar but never had the nerve to even consider casting on for them. But now, since half of the work has already been done for me, it just takes a lot of the stress away and I'm now very much looking forward to knitting its mate up.
But for now, a mini-break from socks. Just a mini one. I have been very much inspired by Melissa's hat kick as of late so I've been taking it easy knitting up a couple of hats of my own.
*I'd rank this right below "Time after Time" for Worst Song Ever. *shudder*

Fantastic socks! So much tiny cable-y goodness.

Both those socks look terrific! I don't know about the Bad Song ranking, though... I think That's What Friends Are For might be lower than Time After Time on my list, and neither of them can quite complete with Everything Thing I Do (I Do It for You).

Um, yeah. Everything I Do. Because Everything Thing I Do would just be funny as Bryan Adams tried to cram that extra redundant word into his meter.

GORGEOUS! GORGEOUS! GORGEOUS!

Wow, I couldn't possibly decide which one is more awesome, the sock you made or the one you got! Nice.

i so love the twisted flower pattern. it just looks like something that would require a lot of patience, which i don't have, usually.
um, "that's what friends are for" is probably the worst song ever. it's WAY worse than "time after time", which is terrible. but i don't want to fight with you, there is no hate in my heart.
so, should we be expecting a hat-centric post soon?

Both of those socks are gorgeous. You are one lucky lady.
Also, I had to sing "That's What Friends Are For" in 6th grade chorus. It was pretty damn awful.

ooh - cablenet....that has been in my queue since it came out. I love the texture it produces! And now you only have to knit one! Bonus! I wish I could find a permanent single swap partner - then neither of us would ever have to knit a pair again!

Cables! Cables! Looks like you and Schrodinger were on the same wavelength :) And that Caribbean Blue is a fantastic color, isn't it? I used for one Esther sock.

I adore the twisted flowers sock, I need to try that at some point. Glad that you like your sock, and that it fits. I guess it's about time I wrote my single sock post eh?

Cablenet! That sock is awesome! I've sort of thought about knitting one, but the wee, mind-numbing cables have turned me off. But it's quite the stunner.

I love your Twisted Flowers! I love my Twisted Flowers (kathygeorge on Ravelry). And the cable socks are out of sight. How did I miss them in Knitty? They're definitely on my list now.
