Funny Face
Pattern: The Amanda Hat (pdf) by Gina House (Queue it over at Ravelry here)
Yarn: Malabrigo Worsted Merino in "Stonechat"
Needles: US 8 16" circulars
Cuuuuuute and cozy hat, if I do say so myself. Fabulous, easy pattern. And it is just PERFECT for variegated yarns. It shows off their colors quite well.
With that said, I will admit I am a *bit* more partial to this pattern here.
Pattern: Stella's Hat by Knitting School Dropout (Queue it here)
Yarn: Malabrigo Worsted Merino in "Frost Gray"
Needles: US 8 16" circulars
Mods: Added an inch more than what the pattern recommended before I started the decreases for the crown. That's all.
Best. Hat. Ever.
No pattern this easy should yield results this cute yet super warm. You usually have to sacrifice one for the other, ya know? It just ain't right. I suppose Melissa has gotten in enough practice making hats, tho, to know what's best. ;)
I often have a difficult time finding cute hat patterns for my bulbous head. [Exhibit A] So I feel I really lucked out with these two winning patterns. Go forth in good faith, my fellow fat-headed knitter, and knit one (or both) of these hats, toot sweet!

Suuuuuuch cute hats! I'm imagining using some handspun if I can ever finish a skein...

I love them both! I have an enormous head myself, and I'd already queued Stella, but Amanda is definitely next up.

Both hats look adorable! I'm off to look at the patterns now.

These are just so lovely!!! I just knit a slouchy beret & I am feeling the hat love. I just want to put another one on the needles right now.
Melissa is my hero!
I'm also in love with your stonechat! It's such a pretty color!! :)

So many of us knitters we feel like we look like baffoons in hats - does that seem the opposite of karma or what? :) I love your hats - I did make an Amanda, and ran right over to queue the Stella. Thanks for the links!

Love them both on you! I was just trying on my Stella again tonight, thinking of making another. It truly is the best hat ever.

Like I need more things in my Ravlery queue...
They look great on you. Thanks for the "heads up."

those are both so cute! i'm always on the lookout for warm hats. that is the big problem i find - knit hats just aren't dense enough!

These are so. lovely. And - thank you! I've never been able to wear hats, but it's been so cold this winter I've started thinking about them seriously. And I have a few single skeins of Malabrigo that I had no idea what to do with, and was thinking of making into a beret or similar but I wasn't really sure- now I know what to do with them! Yours look great, and I *love* that first photo.

I have the same problem with my big head. Luckily, my friend gave me an awesome crochet hat that I use all the time.
Also, love your glasses!

Oh, you picked great hat patterns! I made an Amelia Earhart hat a couple weeks ago when it was freezing, and hate the shape :(

I'm trying to admire your hats, but I can't stop looking at your awesome glasses.

I think they are both really great hats - aren't you glad we got a bit of winter (eventually) to wear them?
