Umm, Knit Picks now has this amazing, self-striping sock yarn?. . .

knitpicks felici sock yarn in "aurora"
[Please note: this is not my sock, it's hers] In the colorway "Aurora"

Called Felici? For less than $5 a ball? And no one planned on mentioning this to me?

It's a good thing I have Heather around to keep me well-informed.

Some help the rest of you guys all are. :P

And now if you'll excuse me. . . *digs around purse for wallet*

Oh my goodness. I missed this completely. Thank you for sharing! *off to get sock yarn that I need like a hole in the head*

I bought some of that in the shades of blue and it is so nice and soft in the ball. Now that I see your sock-in-progress, I really want to cast it on.

I too was unaware of this. Alas, yarn is not in the budget even at those prices. It's very pretty!

Posted by: Karen at August 14, 2007 08:23 AM

I didn't know about this yarn either! Did it come out in one of their newsletters I missed???

Posted by: stacey at August 14, 2007 08:39 AM

that's fantastic! I missed it too. maybe it's a yarn launch still in beta? ;)

Posted by: ann at August 14, 2007 08:58 AM

Hey - I like those colors! I was sadly out of the loop on this yarn as well. Thanks for passing along the 411.

Posted by: Kaitie Tee at August 14, 2007 09:01 AM

Very pretty yarn! I think I may be looking for my credit card again!

Posted by: carriepenny at August 14, 2007 09:57 AM

Oooh - this is new to me too! thanks for the link.

Dude. I was going to go through life not knowing about this.

I'm about to be completely broke.

Posted by: elizabeth at August 14, 2007 10:47 AM

Ooh, did you see the firefighter colorway?!

Posted by: Veronique at August 14, 2007 10:53 AM

Pretty cute! I wonder if they've improved the base yarn, though--I've been reading a lot of complaints about their sock yarn on Ravelry. Still, for that price...

Posted by: Katy at August 14, 2007 12:09 PM

So far the Felici is soft and not splitty. I really like the Firefighter colorway- true red and the prettiest greys. It's listed as superwash, so we will see how it stands up to the washer when I'm done.

i knew about this yarn but on the knitpicks site the photos left me cold. but it's actually quite pretty!

Posted by: maryse at August 14, 2007 01:03 PM

Nice yarn. Even worse-they have this new bag called the 'total tote.' It is so cute, it's been seriously haunting me....

Posted by: Jana at August 14, 2007 01:56 PM

OH it is lovely. GREAT infor. to pass on. Thanks

Posted by: kathy b at August 14, 2007 05:39 PM

pretty sure I need it.

Posted by: knitxcore at August 14, 2007 08:01 PM

looks yummy and cheap ....

Posted by: carrie m at August 14, 2007 09:29 PM

nice!

Posted by: eyeleen at August 14, 2007 11:11 PM

News to me! Looks like I'm going to have to get me some of that stripey goodness.

Posted by: Schrodinger at August 14, 2007 11:40 PM

It looks like it has such a nice sheen, thanks Enabler!:) And thanks as well for the Jaywalker tips, what you said totally makes sense and I'm keeping it in mind for next time.

I think you can officially call yourself a yarn pusher. You made my hand lurch towards the mouse to order. I also think the knit picks people are evil geniuses. That free shipping if you spend 45$ gets me addding s**t to my order every time!

Posted by: linda at August 15, 2007 08:29 AM

wow - more sock yarn for my stash - yummy colorway! :)

Posted by: kyle at August 15, 2007 12:25 PM

I got it in the coastal colorway, it's gorgeous stuff. And you could have totally looked at my stash on Ravelry and seen it, so I take no blame for your lack of knowledge!! ;)

My best friend got it in the firefighter colorway and made an awesome pair of socks for her son.

It's good stuff for hella cheap. It is tempting to get a skein in every colorway. Which is a bit obsessive compulsive but having sorted through my stash recently to get it tucked away safely away from the kittens, I'm reminded of my obsessive compulsive tendencies!!

Posted by: Teenuh at August 17, 2007 01:29 AM

Does it take one skein or two to make a pair of socks?
Thanks!
They're adorable!
And even if we need two skeins...it's still a great price!

Posted by: Miz Booshay at August 19, 2007 01:41 PM

oooh, thanks for the pattern.

Posted by: eyeleen at August 20, 2007 11:30 PM

I bought some of this for me as a treat when I was ordering some other stuff for gift-knitting, and I'm actually using it (in the Atmosphere colorway) to knit up your Charade socks. I think it's great so far. Oh, and now I guess I'm not lurking anymore...

Posted by: Cameron at August 21, 2007 07:27 AM

Ooooh, I like this!

Posted by: Lolly at August 21, 2007 07:37 AM

Well it's good I have you to keep me informed! Lovely.
