a real(!) Bloody Mary pattern

bloody mary pdf now available

I decided that my sorta-pattern wasn't really gonna suffice after all.

This pattern differs a little from the original. These are knit from the top-down w/ your standard heel flap and toe. Oh, and these socks are written up for a woman's small-medium. Those with larger feet can cast on 70 stitches and modify the pattern accordingly. Trust me, it's way easy. I believe in you!

So just look over to your right, and right-click away!

---->ETA (2/18/07): <----- Whoa. My website exceeded its bandwidth this weekend and crashed on me. :( I love that there are so many people are enjoying my free downloads but I love my blog up and running a wee bit more. ;) Please note that this pattern here (along with Charade) will be now available to download over at Ravelry now. Still free, mind you!!

Just click here. There is a permanent link to the download on my sidebar as well.

For those that still aren't up on Ravelry, just leave a comment here or shoot me a line and I'll send you a copy of the pattern via email.

BAH!: I already found a mistake in the pattern. When you get to the heel gusset, you'll see this:

Screenshot_4.png

It *should* read, "There are now 27 sts on Needle #1, 15 sts on Needle #2, 15 sts on Needle #3, 27 on Needle #4." And NOT 17 sts.

Sorry about that. I'll get around to correcting that as soon as I can. In the meantime, if you just can't bear to wait and have to cast on for this sock immediately (and who can blame you??*), then by all means, download away.

BAH! Remedied (8/19/07 11:30EDT): OK, everything is all fixed now. I uploaded the revised pattern this morning. Sorry about all that.

*hee hee

Thanks for the pattern. I am almost done with the first one and can't wait to show you a pic. By happy accident, my heel flap is solid red. Bloody alright.

I will drink to that! I'm having an old fashioned though -poor substitute:) But great pattern, thank you!

Just moments ago, I finished a pair of Bloody Mary socks that I modified from your original recipe for top down knitting. I really enjoyed the pattern, and am very happy with my finished socks. Thanks for a great pattern! (Oh, and before that I did a pair of Charade socks - also a lot of fun!)

Saw your Charade socks on Wendy's site (Knit and Tonic)
Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern!

Cute! At first I thought you were offering up a traditional bloody mary recipe, then I read a little closer.

heh heh heh! That's so funny about what Amy just said about the bloody mary recipe. (personally, I think of bloody mary's as cold pasta sauce all sauce'd up, but who'd have thunk?)

After I finish my next pair of Charade's I'm all over these Bloody Mary's. I just have to find the perfect yarn.

YAY! Thanks for the pattern. :)

just one question, maybe a dumb one. what shoe size do you think these (or Charade) are intended for? because I wear a 7.5, but I want to make these for my mom, who wears an 8.5-9. I'm guessing these would fit me with no mods, but I have no idea what her foot circumference is. what do you think-- switch to a higher needle size or cast on more stitches? i never know which is better, especially with no given gauge. and if more stitches, how many? sorry if i sound daft, but i'm a new-ish sock knitter, and since it's a gift i can't just make it up as i go.

also, wendy, loved those charade socks on your site. what a gorgeous colorway for this pattern!

You're cranking out the sock patterns these days! I haven't jumped on the Charades bandwagon yet, and I now I want to make Bloody Marys. Like *now*. I cannot keep up with your great patterns...
