Pirate Mittens
Ahoy, mateys!
Pattern: Pirate Mittens from Hello Yarn
Yarn: 2 balls of Knitpicks Telemark (one in "Cardinal" and one in "Icicle")
Needle: US 5 32 inch circs (addis)
Mods: I left out the "2006" from the original pattern and instead knit in the word "ahoy!"
The thumbs came out a little wonky for my taste, but overall, I'm quite smitten.
One lesson I did learn is that one must choose colors for colorwork wisely. I had originally planned on using the red as the main color and the light blue as contrast. Uh, big mistake. After completing one skull, things were starting to get quite scary. Can you imagine this really pale effing skull looking back at your with these glaring red eyes and big, bright nose? It was a demon clown, I tell you. I considered taking a picture of it before I frogged but I didn't want you guys not to be able to sleep at nights (Can't sleep, clown will eat me. . .)
So let that be a lesson to you all (wags finger knowingly)
On a completely different note, did you know that Williamsburg has its very own sitcom? To be honest, it's nothing to write home about, but it does get the occasional chuckle out of me.
However, I just wanted to note that the Pogs reference from their latest episode pretty much made my year. Haven't heard anyone utter that word in about 14 years or so. Awesome.
So anyhoo, Merry Christmas! Happy Hannukah! And Happy New Year!!!!

Wow - those mitts with the colors reversed WOULD have been very scary! Color choice is very important apparently!!
Happy Holidays to you too!

Those came out great - love the "Ahoy!" instead of the year....It would just be a Rudolph skull, right? (with the red nose?)

Those are some spiffy mittens! I can see what you mean about the demon skull! I like the way they turned out though.
Your mentioning Pogs reminded me of another pop culture refrence : http://www.answers.com/topic/bart-sells-his-soul

Awesome mittens! I've been meaning to make a telemark order but for the life of me can't decide on colors. Eventually I'll decide. But thanks for the tip on MC and CC choices.. Happppy Holidays!

I about peed my pants when I read "can't sleep, clown will eat me." I believe that I did, actually, spit out my candy cane.

I read "Williamsburg" like Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia and I was imagining this sitcom about butter churning and silversmithing and whatnot.
The mittens are perfect!
