Meet the Mets, meet the Mets. . .

The New York Mets:

mets socks 2

Pattern: "Lichin Ribbed Socks" from Knitting Vintage Socks

Yarn: Custom-dyed "Mets" colorway from Yarnmonster (aka Jess)

Needles: US 2 circular needes (32') from Knitpicks

I tried my darnest to get an identical pair of socks for once. My favorite thing about these socks are the little dots you see at the end of the toes. Reminds me of the orange button you'll find on the top of the traditional Mets caps.

Quite fitting, me thinks.

Oh.My.God! I am dying right now. I friggin' L-O-V-E THEM! Your Mets and my Dodgers played some great baseball this weekend, didn't they? I haven't had much time to watch 'em, but I do keep up with the stats! I am dying for some Dodger socks. I might just have to make some myself!

Sandra, those are really great. They trump Mo Vaughn in the "favorite Met things" category!

From one Mets fan to another... way to go!!!!! (oh! and Let's Go Mets).

Posted by: schrodinger at September 12, 2006 07:56 AM

Fabulous! They match so well!

Super cute! well done on matching those stripes - that can't have been easy.

Posted by: Elizabeth at September 12, 2006 09:37 AM

Fantastic Mets socks - and they match perfectly. I hope you'll be wearing them often this fall!

Posted by: MeBeth at September 12, 2006 09:57 AM

Those are great! You did such a perfect job matching them!

Posted by: Stacey at September 12, 2006 10:26 AM

Yay! They turned out so well! Way to go, you got them to match so perfectly! I hope they carry you to many a Mets game.

Posted by: Jessica at September 12, 2006 10:41 AM

as a redsox fan all i can say is better the mets than the yankees.

at least you have pedro.

Posted by: maryse at September 12, 2006 01:50 PM

You are the sock knitting queen, me thinks. =D

Posted by: Tiffany at September 12, 2006 05:15 PM

that's perhaps the perfect mix of baseball and knitting! it's truly worth of a "stitch n pitch," if only it existed in new york.

Posted by: carrie m at September 12, 2006 09:56 PM

LOVE! i am a mets fan stranded out here in ohio. those sox rock!

Posted by: anne at September 13, 2006 12:19 AM

Fantastic!

I think you are the fastest sock knitter in the history of sock knitting... How many pairs are you up to this year, lady? Yowza! ;)

Posted by: Sarah at September 13, 2006 05:56 PM

those stripes match PERFECTLY!! man....that's awesome! :)

Posted by: Jen da Purse Ho at September 14, 2006 12:43 AM

those are schweeet! will you be attending one of the mets' postseason games this season? if so, you should totally rock them then!

i'll be in town during the division series... we should hit a bar after you get off work and watch a game!

Posted by: rosalynn at September 14, 2006 02:54 AM

That cracks me up! I live in Brooklyn now, but was raised in Chicago . . . raised to HATE the Yankees. So, although I'm not a Met fan, we do share a common enemy!

Posted by: Patty at September 14, 2006 11:43 AM

They look great! Time for me to make some Red Sox red socks like I've been meaning to for ages. Glad the Mets are still having a great season, somebody has to be there to beat the yanks in the postseason.

Posted by: pixienyc at September 14, 2006 11:58 AM

THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE SOCKS EVER.

GO METS!!! :)

Posted by: joy at September 14, 2006 03:58 PM

Those are too cute! Great job!

Posted by: AJ at September 15, 2006 08:50 PM

Those are rad! I love how even the stripes came out.

I finished my first pair of jaywalkers! Pictures on my blog.

Stitch n' Pitch will catch on. (no pun intended.)

Love the sox! (both Bosox and the ones you knitted.) I lived in NJ as a kid and loved the Metsies fight song, then moved to Mass. and fell in love with the '67 Impossible Dream Red Sox, so I'm here to tell you there is totally such a thing as divided allegiance. Things look dark for Boston, so I'm rootin' for your Mets.

Posted by: sharon at September 18, 2006 10:37 PM

muahahahaha..... i am trying to kill you....by sock.
only a slight problem with the socks i am knitting being MASSIVE. I really want you to be able to wear them, so was wondering if you could let me know your foot circumference.
Thankyou, and all the best for the war!

I, too, like the "buttons". Any feedback on the knitpicks needles? I've heard they're sharp...
