One of these things is not like the other
WARNING!: Permanent eye damage can result from looking at the disk of the Sun these Jaywalkers directly, or through a camera viewfinder, or with binoculars or a telescope even when only a thin crescent of the Sun or Baily's Beads these socks remain. The 1 percent of the Sun's the socks' surface still visible is about 10,000 times brighter than the full moon. Staring at the the Sun these socks under such circumstances is like using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto tinder. The retina is delicate and irreplaceable. There is little or nothing a retinal surgeon will be able to do to help you. Never look at the Sun outside of the total phase of an eclipse these socks unless you have adequate protection.
Pattern: Uh, you're kidding, right?
Yarn: One skein of Brooklyn Handspun sock yarn in Carnival
Needles: 5 US 1 double-pointed needles (Lantern Moon [ooh, fancy!])
For: Me
One thing: Why the eff did it mysteriously start striping on the foot of just one sock?!
I don't mind the striping. It's just kinda spooky, that's all.

Wow - look at that striping! Isn't it bizarre the way one stripes and other doesn't, despite knitting the idetnical pattern! It's like a little suprise at the end of the skein of yarn!!

Sweeeeeeet jellies. And Jaywalkers. :)

Sandra, there was a really cool entry on RosieBlogs last week about striping, stacking, and pooling. It might give you the answer, although since it only happened on one foot, it may just be an irregularity in the dyeing.
But, damn those are some bright socks!

Hey! I just saw those shoes at Urban Outfitters today.
Man, those socks are bright and very cool!

Love 'em! I agree, the striping is mysterious, but I kinda like it. Who wants a perfectly matched pair anyway? ;-)
Posted by: Sarah at July 25, 2006 08:15 AM
That is strange! They are quite fraternal, but I really like them! Bright and cheery, they'll come in handy in the middle of winter to brighten things up!

Are you happy?
Posted by: Virginia at July 25, 2006 11:46 AM
Wow. Those are some serious socks. How bizarre that they striped that way! But I like 'em.
Posted by: Jessica at July 25, 2006 12:37 PM
Wow, those are happy lovely! They do look like different yarns, though, both gorgeous. Perfect for a rainy day.
Posted by: Katie at July 25, 2006 01:49 PM
Did you get the jellies at Urban? Caught!!! :P
Those socks are funky... but in a good way.
Posted by: joygoddess at July 25, 2006 03:08 PM
I'm presently doing these in Lorna's Lace in Rainbow. The first sock striped on the leg but started pooling past the heel. I even tried cutting the yarn in a few of the places to see if I could stop that but no go. I'm interested to see what the next sock will do. I have a feeling these aren't going to match for me either. - Nice job though!

Posted by: reese at July 26, 2006 07:14 PM
Ok, I have to know... which one was first and when you got to the second what did you think? I'm VERY new to sock knitting and I think I would have cried, but I love the way they turned out.
Posted by: bethc at July 26, 2006 08:21 PM

Posted by: Jen da Purse-Ho at July 27, 2006 10:01 PM
OMG I LOVELOVELOVE those colors! I'm partial to the one with fewer stripes but the pair is gorgeous because of each other.
