Days of Whine and Roses

Thank you so so much for all of the lovely comments you left for the Baltic Sea Stole. Most comments ever on this bloggie, wow. I really appreciated everyone's feedback. So awesome, you guys are.

This may be hard to believe after reading the entries for my last two FOs but I actually do enjoy knitting. Honest, I do. I apologize for the incessant whining as of late. Knitting should be more about the process rather than the final result. It's just that I forget this fact very often, especially after I just finished my seventh repeat of a 32 row lace pattern with NO purl rows with seven more repeats to go and there just seems to be no end in sight, ahhhh!!

O.K. Deep breaths. . .

Sorry, just needed to let out some leftover steam. I swear I'll stop a-bitchin' now, fo' real. I think that now I've finished off a few projects from my overflowing WIP basket, I can chill out some and R-E-L-A-X.

So anyhoo, I'll shut up now. It's picture time.

Simply Lace Socks from Spring 2006 Interweave Knits

simply lovely lace socks progress

I finally decided to cast on for my Sockapaloooza pal this weekend. I think the Simply Lovely Lace Socks from the Spring 2006 Interweave Knits [first photo] are real purty and lace pattern is easy to memorize. My sock pal has never knit lace socks before and likes fun and interesting stitch patterns so I figure I get the best of both worlds with this pattern. BTW, I totally heart the heels and sock combo. :)

Speaking of which, I have some FO photos as well, yippee.

The Peppermint Jaywalker socks were knit up with Lorna's Laces Shephard Self-Striping Sock Yarn in Bold Red (this colorway is only available at Purl, btw.) I pretty much stuck to the original pattern, no mods. The flower brooch is courtesy of good ol' Jenny over at Frecklewonder.

The River Euphrates Jaywalker socks were knit up with my very own hand-dyed yarn. I decided to go with a picot edge instead of the usual 2x2 ribbing for this pair, just like Anna's (scroll down a tad). Thought I'd try something a wee bit different and crazy this time around. I think I like the socks better with the picot. And all you English knitters know, getting around having to knit ribbing of any sort is a very, very good thing.

Well, that's it for now. I know my blogging has been pretty sparse lately. A million apologies. Just been kinda stressed out the last couple of weeks. However, I've been feeling a lot better lately so I'll try not to be such a stranger around these here parts anymore. I hope you won't be one, either. :)

Sandra? Are you reading my friggin' mind or what? Are you using Marie's Lovers yarn for those Lovely Lace socks? That's what I am using and they are for my Sockpal too. Freaky weird.

You've been a sock knitting machine! I had almost forgotten about the peppermint jaywalkers...
Glad to see you've memorized the lace pattern for the simply lovely lace socks. Somehow, we were all exhausted last friday.

I like the peppermint jaywalkers, very cool with the brooch.

The peppermint jaywalkers look great - they're a perfect preview for my Lorna's pinstripe jaywalkers, which I think I'll do with a picot edge.

Love the new Jaywalkers! Especially with the flower brooch. You're so inspired. I want you to wear them out on the streets of NYC like that and start a new fad.

I'm SO knitting Jaywalkers once I accomplish my "noobie socks" I'm knitting from a back-of-the-yarn-label pattern. Yours are so awesome. I love, love, love the brooch!
