Jaywalker #1

Pattern: Jaywalker by Grumperina
Yarn: Socks That Rock in "Fire on the Mountain."
Needles: US 1 Crystal Palace double-pointed needles (set o' five).
For: Me
Is it just me or do my Jaywalkers knit in "Fire on the Mountain" look absolutely nothing like Cara's Jaywalkers knit in "Fire on the Mountain?" (color-wise, I mean) And yet, hers and mine are technically the same sock. Weird. Just goes to show, always check dye lots.
Anyhoo, this sock pattern is like crack. I can tell why people feel the need to knit themselves several pairs of these. The pattern is simple and easy to memorize. However, it always keeps your interest and never get too tedious. The directions are very well-written and easy to follow as well. It's sock pattern perfection.

I already casted on for Jaywalker #2. I'm using this yarn. . .

Lorna's Laces Shephard Self-Striping sock Yarn in Bold Red. I'm real excited to see how the colors will show up. I'll have progress pictures in a day or too.
I went to the Bust Magazine Holiday Craftacular on Saturday and bought some real pretty yarn and a t-shirt I wanted to show off. However, the impending NYC Transit stike (as of 12/19, 8PM EST) has gotten me feeling all anxious tonight. I'm going to have to figure out some sort of game plan for tomorrow morning. Argh. Hopefully, I'll be writing a post tomorrow about how I was all worried over nothing.
UPDATE: Ah, crap.

Those socks are crack. I almost cast on for another pair this weekend but stuck to my christmas knitting. Your Jaywalker #2s, they're going to remind me of candy canes, kind of.

The socks look great and I can't wait to see Jaywalker Deux. I dont think that I have ever seen that lorna's laces colorway.

oh man, you have my sympathy. i'm kinda inclined to agree with the person in that article who said, "who wants to give a raise to someone who would make three old ladies walk home in the cold?" or several million people walk to work in the cold.
i'll have to try that pattern next time i get the urge to make socks. the only one i've used is the yankee knitter one and it's reeeeeally boring.

the transit strike sucks but i'm on the side of the TWU. if this is what it takes to give those workers a raise, then i'm all for it.
wow, the colors of your socks and cara's socks are SO different! how weird! i'm on the decreases on my second sock now. i hope to have them done before the end of the week!

Those Jaywalkers look great! I should be finished with my first sock today since I have plenty of time to knit while I'm home from the transit strike...but I'll be freezing my butt off with you tomorrow when I go back!

Those are some pretty nifty socks!!! Came out awesome, as always. Do you ever mess anything up? You're amazing!!!
Anyway, MTA strike sucks major arse. Might mess up all my holiday plans if it goes on through the weekend. Oh well... we'll have to figure out another time to hang out. :(
(p.s. I tried to leave you a comment in the latest post, but it wouldn't let me. Why does your new entry hate me?! lol)

That's the beauty of hand-dyed yarn. Variety!
Your socks are beautiful ... perfect for brightening a grey winter's day.
