Getting stranded isn't all that bad

I frogged the "Retro Rib Sock." Things were getting a little out of hand, especially when I finished turning the heel. It pretty much looked like someone threw up an entire bag of Skittles. Socks That Rock is way too pretty (and waaaaaaay too pricey) a yarn to be wasted on a FO that I'm going to be lukewarm (at best) about. I would have developed One-Sock-Syndrome (OSS) once again and never bothered even starting the second sock. Making the one sock and the leftover skein of "Fire On The Mountain" totally useless. And me a complete failure. (I'm not being a tad dramatic, am I?)

So with the weather being all crummy here once again, I stayed in and casted on for "Crusoe" from Knitty. Check it out. . .

No weird splotching zigzag-y craziness going on here, hooray!

I think the stranded stitch pattern shows off the colors of the Socks That Rock yarn to its fullest potential.

Dare I even say, I think my progress here is going to get me so motivated that I'll actually finish knitting an actual pair of socks. Yes, dear reader, I have never knitted a complete pair before. *hangs head in shame* That damn OSS. Once I bind off for the first sock, I can never get myself to cast on for the second matching sock (I mean, I already binded [bound?] off and have a perfectly functioning FO. How can I only be halfway there? Why should I have to do it all over again? No fair!) But don't worry, I kick it just yet. Just you wait and see!

"Your particular psychosis suggests you should think of doing the 2 by 2 method." says Doctor Smartypants Annoyington =) LOL

I am going to try it on the next pair I do. My confidence has grown and I want the hubby's dress socks to be exactly the same. Which is another advantage of the 2 by 2 method. - So far I've done the dpns, 2 circs method, and now magic loop. I LOVE magic loop - SO easy

You can conquer your OSS - I KNOW you can. Either that or just always wear socks that don't match =) start a new fad hahahahaha

Great Sock! Isn't the crusoe pattern fun? You're making great progress - you'll have sock #2 finished in no time!

wow, that looks great! i'm amazed at how different the colors look.

i know what you mean about OSS. i'm currently in second sock limbo. i got a skein of this cute fair isle sock yarn to make socks for my best friend, which is fine except that it means i have to use a really simple design so the pattern shows up. *yawn*

I love the way the stitch pattern shows up in that color way, looks really fun. I'm going to have to put that on my knits to start list...I think after only one sock I might be addicted.

Who can't sympathize here? I, for one, have a completed Cable Rib sock that is lovely and comfy and.... alone. After getting about a third through the second one, I started a sweater... And yes, believe that sweater will be done before that second sock.

This pattern does look appealing... hadn't given it a second glance, but yours looks so perty I might have to go back and knit at least one of these. :)

What a lovely sock you have there. If nothing else, we will provide a significant amount of guilt to goad you into finishing and showing these off at The Point one day.
