Bulky Mini Cardigan

Pattern: Bulky Mini Cardigan by Stefanie Japel
Yarn: Four skeins of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky in Misty Blue (double stranded) and one skein in Grey Heather
Needles: US 9 and US 13 circulars (both 24") and US 10 1/2 straight needles (Susan Bates)
For: Moi
Did I say that I would finish the cardigan this weekend? I actually meant today, that's right, today!
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this FO. I'm not a fan of knitting with super bulky yarn and needles bigger than size 10s. It hurts my hands. And I don't think I can pull off bulky sweaters. I need to drop about 25 pounds or something. I'm not sure if I'll ever wear this out, we'll see.
Don't get me wrong, the project is a fun knit. It kept my interest throughout. Oh, the only sewing involved was seaming up the sleeves. :D
This sweater can be easily busted out in a weekend. I'm all about instant gratification. Oh, yeah!

ooh, i haven't seen anyone finish the bulky cardy yet! i like your more muted color choice. i had the same reservations about bulkiness, but i definitely think you can pull it off.

Very cute cardi!

I think it turned out really cute and it looks really good on you. though I know all about staying away from bulky knits...

It's cute girl, but I am totally with you about the bulky knits. They look big and are big and take up SO much space in my alreadly limited wardrobe. It does look warm and cozy though!!

Have to agree with the others. Love your color choice, but not so hip with the bulky knits, especially if they're form fitting. But just to give it one last chance, how about trying it with a long t-shirt or tank for a a more casual look?

I like the decorative yarn-overs on the back. I wonder if working something like that on the front would help give it a lighter feeling?

Looks good. You are a quick knitter. I have the pattern but haven't cast on yet. You do not have to lose any lbs. Love the buttons.

Looks Great! Thanks so much for testing it out!!

I know that bulky and form fitting do not belong together on me, BUT, I love the bust-shaping technique. Make mine longer, and in a smaller gauge, and I would be all set!

It's very cute Sandy, where did you get the great buttons?
Posted by: sedie at September 29, 2005 11:05 AM
fantastic! boy was that a fast knit! the button choice is a nice one and i do think that you can pull it off. maybe when the weather gets colder you'll change your mind ;)

ow ow! i like it too. i wonder how it'd look with only a single strand of LP bulky? (and smaller needles, of course) i think it looks way cute, but i know what you mean about super-bulky knits.

Yeah... maybe YOU can bust that out in a weekend, but hand that over to me and you won't see it again for about a year!!!
But, damn... you're smooth! :D

Very cute! I like the colors you chose, and the style looks good on you... I know what you mean about bulky sweaters, though - I used to crave knitting them, and now everything I knit is worsted weight or lighter...

yeowza...I just had to post another comment. I was just catching up on all the blogs and craftster threads and there were like 13000 views on one of your threads. I didn't want to post a reply on your popular threads because it appears that I'm a doomed post killer. Yes, sad but it's true...

I like yours so much better than Stefanie's original one, if only for the colors and the buttons. As soon as I saw hers, I was like, Oh no, a clown sweater? Has she lost her mind? But anyway, I know how you feel about bulky knits, but it looks cute as can be on you.

the yo detail & the buttons definitely make the cardi.
